The MAXCHANGER all-welded plate heat exchanger bears the
legacy of Tranter's more than 65 years of solving heat transfer problems with SUPERCHANGER and PLATECOIL plate-type heat exchangers. It is an infinitely
superior heat exchanger, where size and cost are important.
The compact MAXCHANGER unit transfers heat in much the same way as the SUPERCHANGER plate and frame heat exchanger, but does so without gaskets.
This ensures greater compactness than a gasketed plate exchanger, and requires
only 30-50% of space required for a shell and tube heat exchanger.
Extremely high U values and low pressure drops are a result of the unique
geometry of its interspaces. The specially embossed dimples on each plate
provide maximum pressure-resistant heat transfer contact points. This
design allows the MAXCHANGER to be capable of running under high
temperature/ high pressure applications.
How the MAXCHANGER Unit Works: Counter-current Flow
Specially dimpled plates are rotated and welded completely together between end
plates, and in alternate channels at the inlet / outlet ends and connections.
This thoroughly seals the entire unit to prevent leaking or cross-contamination
of hot and cold media.
Counter-current flow of fluids is achieved in all MAXCHANGER designs, providing
a close temperature approach capability of less than 2°F.
Channels formed between the welded plates and end connections direct the two
heat transfer media counter-currently through alternate paths for immediate
thermal response and maximum efficiency.
Standard NPT Connections shown. Other options are available.
